Poor: Below the bar. Excessive flaws cast a shadow over what may otherwise be enjoyable or have artistic merit. Not worth rewatching except for comfort or nostalgia. Recommendable only to those with a strong interest in its topic.By far inferior to that early hallmark of film noir, The Maltese Falcon. Marlowe is too much of a hero in this one, and the plot is needlessly tangled with insufficient payoff.
